    2 Months Fly By

In the past 2 months Ive moved to my Dads, then to my Mums new place.  Jen's still working as a live in nanny looking after Harry.  Ive spent the past week and a bit off work cos my backs given in and its starting to get a little better-the doctor decides to give you pain killers to mask the pain, not give you time off work to recover!  I said "shouldnt i take some time off as sitting on my bike for 2 hours commuting every day cant be doing me much good?" - she replied "Oh no, you should keep at it, keeping active is the best thing".

Then I got outside and realised she thought I meant pushbike, not motorbike, daft hippy cow!

Were flat-sitting for Jens sister this weekend, so should be fun, cant wait to roll some good times and drink a few beers, goin out to a "celebrating sex" party on Friday night (Keri finds out the sex of her and Darrens baby) and Saturday night we have another fun party planned, looking forward to this weekend, and then Tuesday 31st (Halloween!) were off to Birmingham and the NEC bike show to see some shiny bikes and scantly clad spandex wearing bimbos! WOOT!

And beware of Hells Hooters, coming to a blue store near you!

    Im coming home

Now as some of you may know, ive been in Guildford for about 4 years now, but in that time ive racked up a fair amount of debt, so now that Jenny has a live-in nanny job, I can feel a bit better about leaving the immediate area.  Im moving back to carshalton and the money i would be spending on rent and bills, will now be put to better use - paying off these debts.  It will only take a year to clear them off and then we can start saving for a deposit on a house or something, because at the rate were going at the moment, well never get out of debt, or one of us will die worrying about it.

However, fear not fellow Guildfordians! Ill still be working here, so ill be up here everyday, and probably at weekends as well, depending on where we stay.  So dont be suprised if i turn up unexpected and dos round your house for a night or two, it just means that, well, i cant be arsed to do the half hour journey home, lol.

I would write a bit more now, but my wrist is cramping up...more later

    Lazer Zapping!

Well its been a while but thats only cos my computer blew up during a powercut and it has cost a small fortune getting it back to working order.  I still dont have a job and if im not mistaken its pushing on over 2 months! Whats more is I applied fore jobseekers allowance 6 WEEKS AGO and they still havent processed it! What are they expecting me to be living on!  And Im off to Barcelona on Sunday - and because im out of the country for 5 days, apparently im not entitled to any benefits over those days because im not "actively seeking employment" - Trust me, im actively seeking any employment, on holiday or not.

Speaking of which, some good news came my way yesterday - at last!

A Laser eye surgery is recruiting both a customer service person AND a laser eye technician, I have been put forward for both and tomorrow I have an interview with them after lunch.  So suited and booted Radley man shall put forth his best efforts to try and steal this job from the clutches of others.  If I get the technician job, which is what im hoping for, I only have to work 4 days a week, and although one of them is a Saturday, i think i can handle that.  Pay isnt too shabby either, kinda what im after at the mo.

Housing wise, Wais lookin to move somewhere else, Kennys probably moving out at the end of August (Although knowing him we wont find out until about a week before  ) and James, well I dont know whats happening there.  One minute he says hes signing up for another year, the next hes talkin about only signing for 6 months then moving into his Girlfriends parents basement.  Hope people tell me what the fuck theyre doing soon, cos im not bein left on the street while theyre comfortably housed!  Sometimes people forget it takes a while to get other people to move in.

Well, ill post the results of the interview tomorrow...

    One Month Anniversary

Wahey! Its been officially a month since ive had a paying job.  Ive got this job with Nightwarrior, and another gig i got yesterday, but trouble is that theyre royalty jobs, so i wont see anything for a good while yet.  Yes its gettin me valuable experience which I appreciate, but trouble is, experience doesnt pay the bills yet

So as I was saying, this job i got offered yesterday, its working for a guy in the comics industry called Jim Janes, who has worked for every comic book company in the US, including both Marvel and DC, guy who knows his shit basically!

Hes bringing out a graphic novel with 5 independant stories in it, totalling to 64 pages.  Deadline is July 2006, so 1 year for 64 pages, dont make me laugh, im havin to do 34 pages in a month for Nightwarrior (Good ina way, keeps my mind busy while i dont have a job )

I think the catch with Jimmy Janes is that:

    • hes in the US
    • he has a dial-up modem and is very PC illiterate

             thus

    • has to send me the inks, on a CD, and doing 64 pages in a year via snail mail is gonna be a pain in the backside (especially since it takes about a week to get it to me, and a week to get it back to him)

Oh well, aybe ill get a paying job soon and be able to support myself till i get enough experience to warrant a salary for colouring in

Nothin' like a bit of reggae at 3:45am!!!

Well its pretty late but that seems to be what im doing at the moment - staying up to finish colouring in! Yes you heard me, COLOURING IN!

Im being commissioned to colour in an online comic called Nightwarrior and it comes out on June 22nd, so make sure you check it out to see my work, the Issue is Deadly Jade Issue 5.  Im 4 pages into it and have only just got the script, so i actually know whos who now, having never read the comic before lol

You can see some of them before theyre up on my DeviantArt page as well, since im using that as my online portfolio.  Unfortunately i dont get paid for it at the moment, but when they get the comics published i get money from the royalties :D (Hopefully it will pay off!) but even so, its something big to have on a CV experince wise so i can go on to bigger things, plus im getting in valuable photoshop experience (something ive been meaning to do for a while)

Well thats all to report at the moment...

...Oh yeah, and Jennys the bestest girlfriend ever and i love her

    Wow, look at the date!

Wow, look at the date its been ages since i wrote something in here...ok, 8 days but you get the point.  Still have no 'real' job, but in the meantime im applying for some illustration/colourist jobs.  If i get them it should get me the experience i need to get into the industry, and hopefully work from home (Isnt that the dream!) The pictures below are the colourtest application  i had to do for a game called 'Rise of the Hidden Sun' - (the B+W one is the test and the coloured in one is my attempt!) - Just sent it so waiting for the guy to get back to me.

Ill Put a link on here as well to my DeviantArt page incase anyone wants to see some of my scanned recent work.  Figured it was a good place to have an online portfolio.  The Green Goblin and Thing ones i quite like so im probably gonna try and ink those through Paintshop and get them looking sweet and tasty

Other than that, not really doing much.  Oh yeah, Friday im going back home cos on Saturday Nathan (My 9 year old brother) is doing a show at the streetdance festival in Earls Court (hes the funkiest robot dancer youll ever see!) Also gives me a chance to see my good buddy Bungle.  Hopefully Cake can make it too, and Funk - but i hear Riley is still in Leicester doing his exams (which i also hear arent going too well - dude if you dont pass this time i think its a sign, but our thoughts are with ya')

Well anyhow, im going to get something to eat since i havent since i started colouring that testpage, which was 10 hours ago (no im not exaggerating either!)

    Still unemployed

/ Well im still unemployed, but its strange because every week i still seem to get money coming in from somewhere or another - either money someone owes me, or the odd 1 day of work i did...yesterday it was even money from Philips for expenses i racked up a month ago, thats another £60 odd! Marvelous

Its tempting to just go for something ive done before - like admin or switchboard, but im adamant about not going back to something i hate, as ill only end up leaving fairly soon afterjust cos the jobs so boring.  Trouble is, in Guildford, theres no specific IT recruitment company, so gettin a job in that field is proving to be damn near impossible.

On friday i was checkin the Surrey Ad and they had a games tester job advertised, yesterday i called them up and was informed it was a telemarketing job...now how does a games tester role come anywhere close to telemarketing...someones telling porkies methinks.

Getting a job doing graphics is exactly the same, once in a blue moon a role will appear-but the pay is pretty shoddy, but since id enjoy it im willing to take the £2.5k pay drop, problem here is that they want degree graduates or 2-3 years experienced personnel only - so how can they get away with paying you a shit wage! I guess its true, everybodys out to shit on everybody else.

In the homelife, Sunday me and James cleared out Kumars old room and let it air out, then yesterday me and Kenny put all the music equipment in there and fixed a lock to the door.  Seeing as this is the most easy to break into flat in the world, we figured wed keep all our expensive music shit in there and as a bi-product of this we now have a music room, James can use it for teaching Shaun (pah!) and Kenny can use it for his degree work.  Spose its also a nice little room to have a break in as well, although the conservatorys more of the break out room.

Well, spose id better get back to scouring the net for jobs...
